HISTORY OF TALPURS ( 28 )….17.7.14 ------------------------------------------------ SINDH AND BRITISHERS: Actually, Lord Ellenboro Governor General of India wanted to make Sindh the part of Great Britain. He gave free hand to Charles Napier, in implementing his plan. Charles Napier started making fabricated cases against Mirs. As a part of that strategy, Charles Napier drafted new agreements. These agreements contained the clauses, which further weakened the sovereignty of Sindh. The main cluses of agreements were: - The areas of BHANG BHARI and SUBZAL KOT should be handed over to Nawab of Bahawalpur. - Sukkur, Bukkur and surrounding Islands, would be controlled by British Forces. - On both sides of River Indus, a land up to one hundred yards should be given to British Force. - A coin of Great Britain, having pic of Queen on one side, be introduced as the Currency of Sindh. - Britishers be exempted from all kinds of taxes and other duties. The entire above one sided conditions of agreements were nothing less than signing on the Death Warrants; for Mirs. Because, firstly they were going to lose the vast area of the country which was highly productive and source of income. Secondly they were going to lose a Royal Dignity. Thirdly, by embodying pic of Queen on COIN, was the interference in their Religion. Therefore Mirs sent their Advocates to Charles Napier for persuading him to soften the conditions of agreements. Charles Napier turned down the request of Mirs and ordered for immediate signing of agreements. Mirs, seeing no other option, eventually signed agreements with all these conditions. Charles Napier, before ratification of these agreements, occupied vast area of Mir Rustam Khan Talpur and the officials of Mir Rustam were stopped from recovering taxes and duties, by issuing formal odder. After that, Charles wrote letters to Mir Rustam and threatened him to attack his Capital Throne and bring it into ashes. Not only that, but Charles ordered Mir Rustam, to disarm his Force. Succumbing, to the pressures of political situation, 85 years old Mir Rustam Khan surrendered himself to Charles Napier and requested him for asylum. But Charles Napier asked Mir Rustam to go to Mir Ali Murad Khan. Mir Rustam khan took his family, went to Mir Ali Murad Khan to request and promise him that he ( Mir Ali Murad Khan ) would be made his ( Mir Rustam’s ) successor, if he( Mir Ali Murad ) gives up the support to Charles Napier. Mir Ali Murad Khan got the agreement signed by Mir Rustam Khan. Mir Ali Murad Khan then wrote to Charles Napier that Mir Rustam Khan has withdrawn from the Throne in his favor. Charles Napier replied back to Mir Ali Murad that he himself would meet Mir Rustam Khan and confirm. Having read that reply of Charles Napier, Mir Ali Murad Khan played a trick. He got his aged brother awakened from sleep, in the mid night and coerced him with fabricated story that Charles Napier would arrest him early in the morning. Mir Rustam Khan, relied upon his younger brother, left Khairpur during midnight with his family and fled to Thar. He ( Mir Rustam ) also set message to Charles Napier that Mir Ali Murad Khan, had got that agreement by him fraudulently and forcefully. Charles Napier took Mir Ali Murad Khan, went to Imam Garho Fort, which was vacant and the property of Mir Muhammad Khan s/o Mir Ghulam Hyder Khan, and brought it to ashes. Charles Napier did it, because his Spies reported him wrongly that the TREASURE of Mir Muhammad Khan worth Three hundred and seven thousands, was buried in the Fort. Actually there neither lived any one nor there do any treasure. As the news of fleeing of Mir Rutam Khan spread, people of Khairpur city, feeling unsafe, fled away in a state of harassment.Khairpur completely vacated. Sheikh Ali Hussain, a minister of Mir Ali Murad Khan, controlled the Treasure and arrested Fateh Muhammad Ghaury, the minister of Mir Rustam Khan. While fleeing in haste, wife of Mir Rustam Khan fell from Palanquin (DOLI) and her arm fractured. Her two maids too died, due to falling from palanquin (Doli). Mir Rustam sold his precious ornaments for meeting the travel expenses. He reached to Hyderabad and took asylum from Mirs. Mir Rustam Khan’s son, Mir Allah Bux Khan, Mir Mubarak Khan’s sons, Mir Naseer Khan and Mir Wali Muhammad had already reached at Hyderabad together with their grandfather Zangi Khan and some armed troops……….
