HO hum. Shawn, this is one of a million hits but itll work. This is why I ask where you live. Not stalking; it matters, quantifiably. My personal case, for comparison: I live in Northern Alabama, where our local power mix is mostly hydro and nuclear. It was up to 40% coal at one point but coal plant closures are bringing it to 20%, with a growing share of renewables (to which I am personally adding two (2) homes in the next few months). Without claiming unrealistic things like zero emissions, I can state with full confidence that my EV runs cleaner than any ICE here, even a Prius. Im not a climate activist and I dont spend much time thinking about pollution... my opinion is that the supply side issues of fossil fuels are far more concrete and far more compelling, not from an environmentalist standpoint but from a humanitarian one. So Im not saying this because Im emotionally vested in it, Im saying it because its demonstrably true and has been worked over from every angle to verify it: unless your car runs on nothing but coal, which is true only in a few states, its polluting less than the alternatives. Substantially so, in most cases. In the worst cases, its about on part with a 35-40mpg compact ICE. Side note: that 80% coal/oil figure is way high, if youre talking about the national average....
