HOLIDAY SPIRIT FOUND, #2 Santa Cruz, CA Scotch Pine, Blue Spruce or Douglas Fir are what usually come to mind when you think “Christmas tree” but in California the Christmas trees are Palms. Being a bit different doesn’t mean, however, they aren’t just as festive; they’re putting a new spin on holiday decorating. For a closer look at a California Christmas tree consider a daytrip aboard a steam train to the summit of Bear Mountain for a walk along a display of decorated trees. After returning to Santa’s Kingdom, as they leave the train, children can drop their letter to Santa in a special North Pole mailbox; every night the letters are delivered to Santa so he will know what the children he met that day are asking him for.
