HOME PAGECoalition safe, Cabinet meet ends on ‘positive note’Accepts CSC report in toto, 659 new units to be createdGK Online DeskJammu, Feb 1: Amid speculations about survival of Congress- National Conference coalition, the crucial cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, ended on a “positive note” here this afternoon.The cabinet, sources said, discussed the report submitted by Cabinet Sub Committee on new administrative units in the state. “The Cabinet has accepted the report in toto and asked the Finance and Planning departments to work other the related modalities,” they said.Reports suggested that the committee, in its report, has recommended formation of 659 administrative units. Of these units, 46 would be new sub-divisions, 131 tehsils, 178 community development blocks and 304 niyabats. Earlier, the Mushtaq Ganai report had recommended 222 such units.Presenting a united face, the National Conference and Congress legislators arrived at the official residence of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah here.
