HON TIMI BRISIBE, THIS IS YOUR MONTH OF VICTORY-19TH NOVEMBER 2014; HOUSE OF REPS PRIMARY ELECTION, BURUTU FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY DELTA STATE!!! Hon. Timi Brisibe is best known in all social circles as Taima, a derivative of his first name which is characteristic of his nature of friendliness and ebullience. His father was late Chief F.P Brisibe (JP), a conscientious teacher and a reputable community leader from Ojobo in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta state. Mrs Kehinde Brisibe is his mother. She came to marry into the famous and dynastic family of Pa Brisibe Adamagu from Tuomo in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State. She is a committed mother and a devout christian who suffers no scandal. Timi is her first son. He was born in Warri, Delta state on July 20, 1967. Upon completion of his primary and secondary education,he proceeded to the university and emerged with a degree in Theatre Arts. He attended and graduated from the prestigious University of Calabar (UNICAL) in 1992. He did a fleeting stint as Manager in a private family business,Tarebi Properties Limited,in port Harcourt when he arrived home after completing the mandatory one year national youth service (NYSC) in Kogi state. The desire for economic independence and the attainment of better living conditions for his people in his blood moved him into the field of business. He gained maturity in business from his active romance with the defunct Oil Mineral Producing Areas Commission (OMPADEC). This noble commission was the first port of his career in actual business. His foray into the world of business was indeed initiated by a strong quest for his peoples welfare and the need for them to enjoy what is freely given to others in other climes. He has so far achieved tremendous results in this regard. He has been able to, in conjunction with other partners, wrestled a number of jobs to his people some of which are ongoing. Some of these projects are in the major category. Examples of ongoing jobs that came at the instance of of his dogged pursuit are ,Shore Protection/ Erosion Control at Ojobo, Youth Development Centre at Ojobo, Reclamation of Burutu at Burutu in Delta state and so on. It was the same spirit to transform his community (the backward Ijaw area) that propelled him into politics. Timis political career did not begin just when he contested and won the Delta State House of Assembly elections for Burutu Constituency ii in 1997. Even in the university,he worked with other patriotic Niger Delta colleagues in other institutions to do both student unionism and political activism to bring awareness to his people. He participates in peasant politics and demonstrates strong penchant for international politics. He is also a vibrant front line actor during campaigns and elections in Nigeria. The victory at the state assembly elections opened up new vistas and set the stage for him for the future. In 2003, he made a gallant entry into the contest for the House of Representatives for Burutu Federal Constituency. The attempt was not successful. After a humble handshake with a close cousin who was given the mandate, he returned himself to business while awaiting an ordained season to have a leap once again with his political life. As the night breaks into a new dispensation, he has been approached by youths, women and leaders of the Burutu constituency to represent them in the Federal House of Representatives. Like the true servant that he is, he has yielded to the call after prayers to God and consultations with the people. The support is enormous and overwhelming because it is the peoples candid desire for him to contest. The voice of the people is already in the air clamouring for the time to come more quickly for them to show their true love. TIMI is charismatic and exudes dynamism in quite a number of fields. His training as a drama scholar at the university bears a seminal influence on both his diction and his communication skills. His captivating oratory commands loyalty to him any time and endears him more to his admirers and political associates. The apparent love and respect he accords culture is also a clear evidence of his training as a Theatre professional. He is clearly a man of many parts. He achieves no mean feats in even the art of philanthropy. His philanthropic gestures range from financial schemes for scholarship for students at secondary and tertiary levels of education to community development projects. The later has earned him recognition from the reputable Impact Event who graciously conferred on him an award to that effect. Hon. Timi Brisibe is full of life, happily married with a daughter and enjoys a strong christian faith.
