HORROR Story: No, it is not about zombies or evil spirits. - TopicsExpress

HORROR Story: No, it is not about zombies or evil spirits. What has sports come to in Malaysia? I clearly remember that in my childhood and adolescent years, Malaysia was ranked at the upper levels in most of the popular games such as football, hockey, badminton and athletics. She was an Asian power house alongside Japan and South Korea. Look at Malaysia now. Philippines, Cambodia and Vietnam are tough competitors in football. Briefly, we have sunken so far down that a win against any country at the bottom half of the table deserves a party! What is happening at schools nowadays? Is this institution not responsible for nurturing, training and creating champion sportsmen and sportswomen any longer? I was horrified to find this fact about 3 years ago. I was intending to boost my sons fitness. I bought him a skipping rope and told him to start up regular modules of physical exercises. It was then that I realised that he did not know how to use the skipping rope! Believe me, the skipping rope was the very basic training tool that we used when 7-10 years old. If todays schools have dropped the use of skipping ropes, what have they brought in as replacement? Skipping builds strength from the toes into the ankles, calves, knees, thighs, hips, the abdomen. It builds coordination and sets the brain functioning in perfect order. Endurance is built with just a rope. The entire body gets flexible, coordination improved, even the wrists and fingers exercised. The physical education teachers have found it fit to drop the skipping rope? No wonder that this nation is getting filled with stiff students who can hardly skip around their opponents and play well to reach the heights of international competition. Cheers
