Jonathan is Yoruba – Revealed Many people have erroneously thought that Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is an Ijaw man. But the truth is that he is a Yoruba man. The president is from a tiny tribe in Bayelsa called Ogbia. There are three ethnic groups in Bayelsa – Ijaw (the majority with about 90% of the population) a small ethnic group called Epie around Yenagoa (who speak an Edoid language akin to Urhobo and Isoko) and a small ethnic group called Ogbia(who are a semi-Bantu people like Efiks and southern Camerounians). The president belongs to this micro-minority called Ogbia. Then the Yoruba link in him. In antiquity the Yoruba had penetrated the core delta in two main prongs – through the Igala axis, and through Ijebu waterside regions. Igala – a proto Yoruba group – had moved along the river Niger and settled in the vicinity of Ode-Isekiri, from time immemorial. Some Ijebu particularly from Ode had reached the Benin River down to the River Ramos areas in Delta and Bayelsa states. In the course of these ancient Yoruba interactions, civilization which ultimately started from Ife, reached the core Delta – Kalabari (Soku, Sengama, Oporoana axis), Nembe( the core city), Bonny , Okrika and most particularly Ogbia axis. See Ediyekio (2005); Alagoa(1972;1977;1989), Tekena Tamuno (1972), Olomu Stifa and Agharowu Honsbira(2008).The Isekiri a Yoruba sub group became a religious pioneer in several of these places. The major God of the Ogbia is Ogidika, a corruption of Ogidigan of Nembe, a corruption of Agidigan in Isekiri. The great Oba Ewuare of Benin got that title when the people of Ureju gave it to him in 1438 as he visited Ureju(Eguando 2012; Agberuntse 2012). Jonathan happens to be one of those people from Ode-Isekiri who settled in Ogbia, hence his high wisdom and political mastery in the mould of Oduduwa. The Yoruba ethnic through their Isekiri satellite have spread their Isekiri satellite have spread their tentacles to most part of the core delta – Ijaw areas and non Ijaw areas. Jonathan is one of these lost Yoruba, through Isekiri linkage in the core Delta. What happens next? All Yoruba, Isekiri, Igala should vote this son, a lost and now redeemed son of deep Yoruban antiquity in the Niger delta. We should make this relationship known to him. He should realize that the Yoruba trait in him is bigger than the Ijaw he is trying to claim. The Isekiri, Ijebu and Igala, Ilaje , Ife, Ekiti etc, should always remember that Jonathan could have been their direct brother or son if not for migration. We should all stand behind him as proper upholders of the Omoluabi philosophy.
