HOT NEW RESTAURANT | No relation to the Japanese-Peruvian restaurant in London of the same name, Chotto Matte is an intimate sushi-ya and yakitori-ya on Blair Road. There are al fresco, indoor and counter seats to choose from. We tried several items on their menu, with some clear winners. The shiro maguro carpaccio ($29) is marinated albacore white tuna, thinly sliced, but chewy and meaty, this is topped with truffle oil and peppery shiso flowers. The chefs selection of yakitori featured a succulent wagyu, chicken wings with skin on and a minced chicken meat ball ($19 for 5 skewers). The Kagoshima pork belly don ($35) is a must-order, if only for the excellently fried garlic rice (Chotto Matte used Hokkaido rice that is washed and cooked with an imported from Japan water filter system. They serve omakase sets as well ($100 onwards). For more hot new restaurants, take a look at bit.ly/HotNewRestaurantsOct2014
