“HOW CAN I PRAY FOR YOU?” Prayer is a gift we can give to ANYONE … even our enemies … and it is an incredibly effective way to be an honoring vessel of God to please Him. After all ... we DO want to please God in every way we know how, right? God tells us so in Matthew 5:44: “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.” So the next time someone offends you – angers you - instead of silently wishing a curse to land on them, offer a “drive-by blessing” on them! We never know how God might move in the situation until we DO, now do we? But this writing isn’t necessarily an admonition to try to move Christians to pray for their enemies. (Though if we don’t, God may allow our “enemies” to become even WORSE enemies to us! Let us always remember – when God tells us to do something, it is never to harm us. It is ONLY good for us. It’s our anger and pride and stubbornness that always begs to differ, isnt it?). The intention of this writing is simply about being a more effective witness on behalf of our Lord and Savior. Allow me to share a brief testimony with you that the Holy Spirit used to motivate me to write this so others might benefit - and to help make the point.
