HOW THE CANOE KEPT SINKING IN JIGAWA Lamido’s aide blunders in “Re a sinking canoe in jigawa” By Aminu Aminu Despite calling my true and sincere agitation for the emancipation of jigawa youth an imagination by Sule Lamido crony, one Adamu Muhammad Usman who eagerly wants to impress his boss on news pages, I will not relent in my struggle to bring out vivid picture of what jigawa youth have been subjected to in the last eight years of Lamido’s dynastic misrule, even if Adamu’s piece in weekly trust of 1st Nov,2014 and peoples daily of 5th Nov,2014 is ironically an attempt to redeem the administrations battered image while the canoe kept sinking, it has died on birth as the facts remain crystal clear that Lamido has failed the youth in jigawa. I remain firm on my feet and no amount of sycophantic rejoinders will curtain the truth as the public will be the final judges that eight years were wasteful in terms of youth development and empowerment. Needless to say the governor had not only failed to address the plight of youth in the state, he refuses to acknowledge his shortcomings even as we point them for correction not for character assassination. If I would ask Adamu who holds brief for his principal where was he when I together with others from the state as a students of Bayero University gathered such groups like Network for Justice, Arewa Students Forum, Students Movement for Good Governance, Youth in Politics to name a few? In that same year he mentioned 2007, I Aminu Aminu led jigawa youth and Students to support Governor Lamido Candidacy when the outgoing Turaki’s administration maneuvered youth groups into endorsing Sule not with any tangible agreement as obtained in the other state. If had asked his boss as to the contribution I and other collique have given even the Governor as so called young chap then in garnering the support of the youth for Lamido in the 27 Local Government in the state I am very much sure you will not ignorantly called too young to know what is happening in 2007. During the electioneering campaign of the then candidate Lamido we went as far as ABU Zaria, University of Maiduguri, Usman Danfodio Sokoto and so many more other tertiary institution across the length and breadth of the country to garner support for Lamido without any penny but out of the goodness of our heart and the hope that if he is elected it will be a new dawn of opportunity for the Jigawa youth in re writing history for the better, our hope were indeed dashed “what a tragedy”. Then the like of Adamu were cooling and scavenging in Abuja in search of comfort and easy life while Jigawa was termed the poorest state in Nigeria. I with my comrades use our personal resource from a book lunch we did and other student activities, we were able to travel and spread his message and sweet promises about the youth. I challenge this administration to bring out the performance indices of their politicized skill acquisition centers and their benefit to the youths of Jigawa state in the last seven years in which several millions of naira were spent failing which they will those project will remain white elephant. The special adviser on media was carried away by selective amnesia when he said this administration lifted a sixteen year embargo on foreign scholarship to student of jigawa state. If I may ask when was the embargo enforced and who enforced the embargo? Where was he when Jigawa student were sent to Singapore and Malaysia in 2005/2006 for ICT related courses. Will he tell us that he was not aware that jigawa state then has one of the best ICT training institutions in Nigeria or even in Africa (INFORMATICS INSTITUTE?). Even if there is an embargo as alleged by the media aide it must have been imposed after 2010 when this government exhausted the $ 3 million deposit it inherited from the previous administration for training of students on ICT in Singapore in the writing jaundiced mind Lamido Government has empowered Jigawa Youth which is Coebbelian lie. Lastly an administration that has spent more than 7 years without listening to the peoples yearnings and wishes baffles me to ask my humble self to suggest to them projects I think are better than the ones they have done, I may ask among the latest white elephant projects including the airport Lamido is waiting to be paid back which market in jigawa is having access road and infrastructure worth remembering the administration?
