HOW TIMES HAVE CHANGED: I remember growing up as a young boy, watching women balance baskets on their heads filled with items from the Castries market, and having the need to pee( urinate), balancing skilfully on one leg, still with the basket on their heads, and then relieving themselves near a sidewalk drain. Doubt very much this still happens! I often wondered then, why mothers always asked their daughters whether they washed their Patta cakes?Thinking then that it may have been something sweet, I wondered why they would wash that away.Looking forward, I guess my thoughts were right. I guess people now are more open to calling body parts by their right names, and women have become more discreet, when they need to relieve themselves!
