HOW TO AVOID CRITICISM... A famous musician was once very discouraged by the frequent criticism of his performance. Having been a veteran, this criticism affected him tremendously, and he seemed to be losing all his confidence. He went to his spiritual master for some pep talk and advice. The Master said, “The critics play a very important role in one’s life. They tell you what your friends will never. Don’t give it too much of importance, but do think about how it can better your performance in some way or the other. If it can contribute to your growth, they’re actually doing you a favor, aren’t they?” The Master said something else to the musician. Said the Master: “No statue was ever erected to honor a critic. Statues are for the criticized.” The best way to avoid criticism is to do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing. Criticism is hurled only on those who contribute something useful to society. Only the doers are criticized, and not the non-performers. The more the criticism, the greater could be the contribution. Therefore, one should not get discouraged with criticism.
