Chandigarh Lectures, Demonstrations and Hands-on Exercises Day 1: (for 50 participants only) 2.00pm – 8.00pm Smile designing is a holistic, interdisciplinary approach towards esthetic enhancement. The actual conversion of the visualized end result into a reality in the patient’s mouth involves knowledge base and skill to use the various sources of information assimilated and interpret it as a diagnosis and use it to make an optimal treatment plan which is then split into small processes and sequenced in appropriate order to arrive at the desired end result. A sound knowledge of the scientific, artistic and illusionary principles of smile designing during this lecture will help train the mind and eyes to assimilate information and visualize what could be achieved in terms of the end results. The essential treatment objectives are to achieve a functional, esthetic and occlusally equilibrated outcome. An opportunity to see start to finish cases overcoming the challenges of multiple diastemas / advanced wear and other complex situations by treatment modalities like composite restorations, ceramic veneers, thineers, soft tissue procedures, full mouth rehabilitation etc. Challenges at every stage of treatment will be discussed and complete step by step clinical cases will be shown Learning objectives for the day involves understanding of the following aspects: Scientific principles of Smile Designing Artistic principles and application Principles of illusion-Management of space discrepancies Holistic treatment planning for a case-various treatment approaches Non aggressive and minimally aggressive approach to smile enhancement Treatment sequencing to achieve desired result Day 2 & 3: (for 20 participants only) Day 2: 9.00am – 5.00pm Lecture and Demonstration on anterior composite veneer layering technique followed by model hands on Handson session on Models will comprise of: Shade match with layering of composites Use of illusion principles Use of stains to create natural looking restoration Finishing and polishing of composites Special Handson session on Model for single case of smile designing It will comprise of: Smile analysis and treatment planning for the case Tooth preparation wherever required Mock up with direct composites Day 3: 9.00am – 3.00pm Lecture and Demonstration on posterior resin restorations-bonding protocols, layering technique,achieving anatomic contacts, finishing and polishing followed by model hands on exercise Handson session on Models will comprise of: Sectional matrix for anatomic contacts Layering for posteriors Finishing and polishing FACULTY: DR. RATNADEEP PATIL CEO & MD, Smile Care, Mumbai. He has maintained a successful private practice in Mumbai, since 1988 with expertise in Esthetic and Implant dentistry. He is a Diplomate, International College of Oral Implantologists and an active member of International Association of Dental Research. A trained investigator from Phoenix International, UK, he is involved in the conduction of clinical trials and studies and is currently pursuing his Phd in Implant Dentistry from Utrecht University. He has authored a clinical textbook on esthetic dentistry ‘ESTHETIC DENTISTRY – AN ARTIST’S SCIENCE’ and has been actively involved in conducting continuing dental education programs with special focus on Smile Designing, Practice Management and Implant dentistry. DR. ANJALI DILBAGHI After obtaining her bachelor’s degree in 1998 Dr Anjali has completed her Post Graduation Certification course in Aesthetic Dentistry and Oral Rehabilitation from New York University College of Dentistry. Currently she is a Consulting Clinician and managing Operations at Smile Care. A rich work experience in Clinical and Corporate Dentistry and interest in Restorative and Esthetic Dentistry propelled her into sharing the various principles and philosophies of Esthetic dentistry with the dental fraternity. Her contribution to articles in Indian publications has well been appreciated. She has participated in clinical research trials at Smile Care and is currently a member of the Research Ethics Committee of the institution.
