HOW TO DEPRESS A FELLOW CHRISTIAN Fix your eyes on Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. -Hebrews 12:2 He who keeps the whole law and stumbles at one point is guity of all. -James 2;10 Depressed Christians tell me that they are happy when they are thinking about how much God loves them, but get depressed when they forget. They commonly tell me that when they forget Jesus finished work that what they are focused on is their own performance. So if you want to depress a fellow Christian just distract him from what Christ has done for him and tell him that he needs to evaluate his obedience level. Tell him to strive to do what is right. Tell him that a true Christian doesnt do certain sinful things. To really crush him quote Galatians 5 and tell him that the works of the flesh are an indicator that he might not be saved. Most importantly tell him that God doesnt expect him to be prefect but to only be growing in obedience. Give him a list of what that looks like and tell him that if Jesus is really his lord he will be doing these things. I suggest that you not do this in the hearing of a thoughtful atheist as he may shake his head in disgust, butt in, and tell you that what you just said is the reason he is an atheist. If he has a tendency to sarcasm he may tell you that if there were a God he would have to be generous, and since yours obviously isnt, your religion is bogus.
