HPCP Report: “Give thanks in all circumstances...” (1 Thessalonians 5:18) Donations and commitments received for the Historical Preservation Capital Project now totals $50,625. Trustees will begin the work on replacing the Father Dyer cabin roof first with the goal of having this completed in the next few weeks. Replacement of the front doors is the second priority especially since there is some concern about the integrity of the foundation by the Sanctuary door. Work will begin on this after Labor Day, since it may be necessary to temporarily close off this entrance. It is thrilling to see the people of Father Dyer get behind the Trustees in this way as they work to protect and enhance many of the distinctive historical features of our church. As with any restoration project budget, there is concern that there may be additional unforeseen costs discovered as work begins. Age and the challenges of the high country weather can take a significant toll on historic structures. #UMC #fatherdyer
