HSMs Greg Clusiau and Justin Bailey spent a productive day trout - TopicsExpress

HSMs Greg Clusiau and Justin Bailey spent a productive day trout fishing yesterday on Burntside Lake near Ely with Lee Lane and Caleb Babcock of Flow North Outdoors guide service. Unseasonably warmer weather allowed us to fish outside all day using no shelters, making hole hopping much easier. Moving from proven spot-to-spot, wed fish an hour at the most before moving on to the next hopeful fishing grounds, a trout milk-run of sort. Best lures were custom made tubes, mimicking smelt, made by the Flow North boys themselves. Lake travel was done by 4-wheel drive trucks but any more snow might slow this approach and make one resort to using a snowmobile. Occasional drifts made travel challenging at times. Never-the-less, fish were caught and Im looking forward to joining these fellows again. I must add that Flow North Outdoors, based out of the Bigfork/Effie area, also guides for most all species (crappie, bluegill, walleye, etc.), offering winter trips as well as open water. An avid musky fisherman, Lee Lane has guided for muskies for 12 years with a personal best of 56. Caleb isnt too far behind him with several monsters of his own. Trout in the 18 pound range have been pulled out of Burntside and meanwhile, back in the Bigfork area, crappies up to 17 have made an appearance.
