HUFFMAN FILES PETITIONS FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE BID (TDN; 1/31/2014) by Will Sanders Staff report TROY — Republican candidate Steve Huffman announced this week that he has filed his petitions to run for the 80th District Ohio House of Representatives seat in preparation for the May 6 primary election. The seat is currently held by Rep. Richard Adams, who is not seeking another term. The 80th House District includes all of Miami County and the southern portion of Darke County. “Today I begin the journey to continue conservative representation in the Ohio House of Representatives,” Huffman said. “I have enjoyed meeting the constituents of the district so far and look forward to talking about the issues that I believe are important to all of us.” Huffman said the issues he would like to address, if elected, would consist of “applying conservative fiscal discipline to Ohio government, protecting our 2nd amendment rights, making sure we receive our fair share of education dollars and that they are spent in the classrooms.” He added: “I look forward to using my experience as a physician to tackle the escalating Medicare cost in this state.” Huffman currently is serving in his first term as Miami County Coroner and is a physician and shareholder with Premier Health Care Services. In addition, Huffman also announced his campaign chairpersons for his campaign. They include: Peggy Minnich of Troy, Mike Gutmann of Piqua, Steve Bruns of Brown Township in Miami County, and Brent Kress of Arcanum. “Each of them brings a level experience, perspective and accomplishment to our campaign that will be invaluable,” Huffman said. “I want to thank them for their support and confidence.” Huffman received his medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio in 1992 and a bachelor’s of arts degree from the University Toledo in 1988, where he was also a three-year starter for the Rockets football team. Huffman is a 1983 graduate of Milton-Union High School. Huffman resides in Tipp City with his wife, Kathryn, and their five children.
