HUGE THANKS TO IGO MEMBERS AND FB FRIENDS!! You stopped another town from encroaching on the 2nd Amendment as last night the Burlington City Council struck down their own proposal to require you to obtain written permission from them before your children could play with many types of toy guns in town or in your car! In fact, only one council member, Robert Flemming, voted in favor. Of course, the Mayor ranted about scare tactics and how IGO members basically wanted to scare senior citizens, but the bottom line is that their little Boss Hogg plan got exposed to Iowans - and the council felt the heat! Burlington now joins places like Dubuque, George, and other Iowa towns where organized gun owners were able to shut down anti-gun garbage like this at the city level. As for Mayor McCampbells forward thinking, which is the phrase he used in defending this madness on the phone to us last Friday - we think he was having a moment of forward thinking when thinking about his re-election campaign last night as he voted down the very proposal he spent so much time angrily defending! Thanks again for all of your help folks; calls, emails, and in person visits made the difference.
