HUMIDITY - and why it can be our nemesis ! Over the summer months ( unless you are an Aussie and you are now in your summer ) we have had the constant problem of high humidity. This means glue curing too quick in our ring or on our stone / glue curing before we can get it onto the natural lash or lashes just not lasting on clients due to the high humidity in the air constantly So I was looking forward to the winter - the lower humidity would surely mean no more retention problems - how wrong I was Because with low humidity it now brings the opposite problems - Glue not grabbing when you attach, so its like working with a sensitive glue, and lashes not lasting either My sets are not nearly as uniformed because the lashes are slowly flopping over once I have placed them and moved on to another lash Im slower because the glue wont cure and then when clients leave the glue is under curing because humidity is low ( and dont forget glue takes up to 24 hours to cure ) -so retention is then poor because the glue just wont cure how it should. So just when I thought I had found that perfect glue Im now back to the drawing board I have tried all I can including a humidifier to get my humidity up but still its sitting below 45% (ideal humidity is 45-55) - however i like 55-60 So for us lash tech this is a real problem as our clients expect their lashes to last - especially when they pay a lot for them ie volume lashes - so this is a real tough time yet again for us as lash techs And try explaining this to your clients, most will think we are just trying to fob them off how hard can lashing be its just sticking a fake lash to a natural lash with some glue - simple!!!!! So once again Im realizing the importance of trying to find those glues that suit your salon environments at the different times of year - and your clients too Who ever though that lashing would be so hard!!!!!
