HUMILITY. by tonabamiro @ 2013-08-03 – 11:26:38 President Olusegun Obasanjo was a military head of state of Nigeria, later he was a civilian President, the only person to do so. President Ibrahim Bababangida was a military President. Both are in in a major book of the most important people of the blacks, both living and dead. I once met President Olusegun Obasanjo. I actually saw him drive by in a Peugeot 504, that was in the nineties. I was greatly surprised. I was surprised because it is not very common to see African leaders, those who were once in power, drive a car by themselves. They are either in a motorcade, or they are being chauffeur driven, under heavy security, usually with a swarm of armed guards. When I saw him, somebody was actually by his side, maybe another friend. My late father, the late Professor Sanya Onabamiro worked closely with President Obasanjo, during his reign as a military head of state, however that was the first time I would see him that close. Another surprise awaited me. I ran up to the car, and I waived he should stop. Again, as you can infer, I was very surprised, he stopped. He asked me, young man, who are you? I introduced myself, and after a brief chat and after talking about my father for a while, I asked him for his autograph. He looked for a paper and a pen, and he in a very polished manner, wrote down his name, and signed under it. Many time people are proud without knowing it, sometimes people are very proud yet they do not know that are proud. Both President Olusegun Obasanjo, and President Ibrahim Babangida are actually very humble people. I talked two days ago about Nigerian doctors. They usually think they have knowledge, many times they are very proud, even while they are in medical school, some are extremely proud. God resists the proud , and he gives grace to the humble. Knowledge is vast, just having knowledge in a specific area, should not make one proud, there are many aspects of knowledge, more to knowledge than just medicine. Perhaps why God has exalted these two people mentioned above, is because of their humility. We should always learn to be humble, no matter the area we find ourselves in life. Though as the Bible says, some would be humble, because of the situation they find themselves in life. The Bible calls this---false humility.
