HUNTSVILLE UTILITIES NEWS RELEASE November 21, 2014 – 2:00 PM Huntsville Utilities recognized by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) The Electric Board of Huntsville Utilities has received a “Top Performer Award” from TVA for its participation in the EnergyRight® Solutions Program. Kevin Chandler, Customer Services Manager for TVA’s Alabama area, presented the award to Electric Board Chair, Mr. Thomas Winstead for Huntsville Utilities outstanding performance in the energy efficiency program. Larry Denman, Huntsville Utilities’ Director of Community Relations & Energy Programs, was commended both by the Electric Board and TVA representatives for creating and launching “The Home Efficiency Survey Program” (HESP) in October to help Madison County residents with energy efficiency incentives. HESP is the first TVA funded energy program developed by a TVA distributor. As just one of TVA’s local power companies, Huntsville Utilities ranked in the following areas, saving our customers money by helping to reduce energy consumption. • New Homes Program: 1st in the Valley with 707 participants, representing 778 kW and 41% of the program total. • Heat Pump Program: 2nd in the Valley with 831 participants, representing 614 kW and 6% of the program total. • Self Audit Program: 4th in the Valley with 639 participants, representing 109 kW and 5% of the program total. • Green Power Switch: 6th in the Valley with 30,412 blocks sold, representing 6% of the program total. • Total Program Savings: 7th in the Valley with 10.5 million kWh savings from all energy efficiency programs, representing about 2.1% of the program savings. Huntsville Utilities is a publicly-owned, not-for-profit utility serving approximately 175,000 electric, 50,000 natural gas, and 90,000 water customers in Huntsville and Madison County, Alabama.
