HYPEREMESIS GRAVIDA’RUM [Case is presented by Dr. Samadhan Ghule. homeopathdrslg@gmail] A pregnant (one and half month) lady consulted me for complaints of nausea, retching (gagging), and vomiting. Nausea, retching or vomiting at morning on waking. Severe vomiting after every food and drink. She used to feel thirsty but aversion to drink due to nausea and vomiting. Even she could not tolerate the smell and the sight of the food. She used to cook by wrapping about nose and mouth to avoid smell of the food. She had consulted to allopathic gynecologist and tried allopathic medicines like antiemetics and antacid etc. without benefit. She could not tolerate allopathic medicines and became more worse. By considering above mentioned totality of symptoms I tried Sepia, Colchicum, Pulsatilla one after another without significant relief, in between that lady’s mother of law told me her observation that patient used to hold left upper limb while vomiting; why? Patient replied, ‘’ Because I feel extreme weakness in my left upper limb while vomiting” and that is the striking and very peculiar. Discussion: There is no direct symptom like ‘ weakness in left upper limb while vomiting during pregnancy’ but I tried Dr. Boenninghausen’s principle of complete symptom. First I saw for medicines indicated for weakness in left upper limb and then the medicines for the weakness with vomiting. Only two medicines, Tabacum and Calcarea carb are common for above mentioned two symptomps but Tabacum is more marked for vomiting during pregnancy and also indicated for incessant nausea. Rx Tabacum 3o stat.(single dose) At next morning only she did not feel nausea, gagging and vomiting. She was advised to take a dose of the same medicine SOS and follow up as necessary. I really surprised and realized the power of both, the peculiar striking symptom-told by Master Hahnemann and the doctrine of the complete symptom taught by the Dr. Boenninghausen, the great disciple of the great Master Hahnemann.
