Ha ha headdesk. When my laptop was in crisis mode (not quite out of the woods yet but its better than it was) I sent a quick email to the editors I work with most frequently letting them know what was up and putting out feelers for a used computer if anyone was in e-waste mode. Nobody replied directly, which was fine except I was half-uncertain as to whether it went out or not. Today one of them wrote and asked how things were going, so it clearly had reached people, and I gave her an update that was tinged with pessimism after an hour spent failing to find a place to live (I legit wont be able to continue like this for much longer, but until I move Im hampered for job hunting bc suburbs). Got offline, went about my day, came back to find an email from someone else at the publication advising that I not be considered for longer pieces in light of this information. Editor inadvertently cc-ed me out to the whole office. So I pretty much just Anthony Weinered myself out of a job.
