Hachiko Supporters, we need your help! This is a case from Animalitos de Dios, an animal rescue group in San Juan, Puerto Rico. We are assisting them in raising fund to help with the hospitalization and care of Campeon (Champion), who was hit by a car on PR Road 5 that intersects with PR Road 29 in Bayamon. We know Animalitos de Dios, and they are a fabulous group who have rescued and helped many dogs. His right front leg will have to be amputated, he has a fractured jaw and internal bleeding. The dog, who was named Campeon (Champion) was immediately sedated, and his wounds were cleaned. He was administered IV fluids with antibiotics to stabilize him. They also took X-rays. UPDATE June 8, 2013: At the moment, Champion is still fighting for his life. He has internal bleeding which is severe. For now, he remains under observation and various medications have been administered via IV to control the bleeding and prevent clots. He is sedated to minimize pain. It has been confirmed that the jaw will require surgery, and his right front leg will have to be amputated. But surgery cannot be performed until his internal bleeding is controlled and his wounds heal. The veterinarian has not given me a detailed estimate yet because he still needs to figure out the costs of the screws needed for the surgery. Also, if Champion survives internal bleeding, and they succeed to operate, Champion will require a long stay at the clinic to recover and receive therapy. However it is estimated that his treatment will cost about $2,000 to $2,500. :( We are exploring various options to raise funds." Please help this group.
