Had a call from the Australian Federal Claims Department offering $7,000 refunds on overcharged bank fees? Hang up, its a scam! The scammers tell people that theyve been incorrectly charged bank fees over a long period of time and that they can access the refund by paying an administration fee, usually requesting the fee to be paid via international money transfer. As you can guess, the refund never arrives, and the administration fee is gone forever. The scammers have been targeting regional areas of NSW recently, however there have been reports of the scam across the state over the past year.
