Had a few questions about Tanner. Year and 1/2 old, golden mix - TopicsExpress

Had a few questions about Tanner. Year and 1/2 old, golden mix that came to GRASS last year through Montgomery County TX Shelter. Tanner was turned in by his owner after being hit by a car. He had a broken leg and broken pelvis. In spite surgeries on his leg and hip by a specialist, Tanner has permanent nerve damage. His right back leg does not bend at the knee and he walks on the tippy toes of his back right leg, which is actually an improvement from a few months back when he dragged the top of his paw on the ground. We are waiting to see if there is more improvement in the function/position of his back paw. If not, he may need to have the leg removed as it does, at times, swell and has previously become infected. Tanner does not use the back leg much when in motion (his injured paw hits the ground once for every 4th or 5th step taken by his other paws), but he does use to leg when he stands. Tanner is a cutie!! He is a sweet, sweet little guy that LOVES attention! Due to his injuries, I can honestly tell you that we have not done a lot of training with him. However, he is smart, loves treats, and is eager to please, all of which make him an excellent candidate for training. Tanner is available for adoption or foster care as a Special Needs furbaby. Here is Tanner recently and a pic of he and Lucy before his coat grew back out from surgery. Have you eve seen a cuter face???
