Had a fun time at the last NY BASS Nation tournament of the year. - TopicsExpress

Had a fun time at the last NY BASS Nation tournament of the year. On Friday I was into some quality shallow water smallmouth on a whi8te 3/8 oz. chatter bait. I checked six of nine areas I had selected for this event, each one was approximately a 1/4 mile long and after one pass of just 100 yard on five of the nine areas an honest 22-24 lbs. so I felt very confident I would do well. I draw boat 24 in a field of 75 boats with check in at 3 PM. I only caught two quality smallies on my chatterbait pattern, but I had one drop shot area and one flipping spot as my back up stuff to bail me out (just in case). My drop shot spot produced nothing, but my flipping area allowed me to cull from 12 lbs. to reach my final 20.35 lb. limit. Tough to imagine but I didnt even cash a check with that weight. The last place check (12th place) went to my fishing partner Mike Cusano with a nice 21 (+) lb. limit. Casey Smith put a beat down on us with a stout 24 (+) limit to win the event and set the NY BASS Nation all time heavyweight record. Nice job Casey and congratulations to all of the winners. Heres a couple photos of my fish and a shot of Mikes fish
