Had a moving day today at Waitangi, the birthplace of our nation. - TopicsExpress

Had a moving day today at Waitangi, the birthplace of our nation. Got to see a waka that holds up to 150 men (or 240 Hobbits!) and has carried Queen Elizabeth, and Prince Charles and Lady Diana. Also saw the house where James Busby lived, and where he drew up the Treaty of Waitangi. This document was translated into Maori by Henry Williams and his son Edward. The flagpole identifies the place where the Treaty was actually signed. It is such a beautiful piece of land, and an incredibly significant part of who we are as Kiwis, both Maori and Pakeha. I know that we still have a long way to go to honour this document, but I am proud to say that it is a work in progress, and pray that God would see the intention of this document fulfilled in our nation. If you have never been here, please put it on the top of your places to go list.
