Had a very strange experience at NJ Taekwoo Open Championship last weekend. Officials couldnt find an opponent for Advait to Spar in his age group (8 years), though there were at least 30+ attendees in that age group. He had to wait more than 2 hours and was asked to move from to ring to ring more than 6 times. For some reason, every time he was not picked up to Spar. At the very end, I had to go to officials to check what was happening and they realized that all 8 year olds finished sparring and Advait was the last man standing; apparently they didnt pair him against anyone because he was too tall! They were very apologetic and gave me two choices -- an exhibition or go against a full Black belt opponent from 10-14 year age group (Advait is Jr Black belt). He chose the later, though I was reluctant because I didnt want him to be beaten handily. He went ahead anyway and ended up winning. Here are some pics -- Advait is in blue in Sparring pic.
