Had an absolutely wonderful evening yesterday at the Oxford - TopicsExpress

Had an absolutely wonderful evening yesterday at the Oxford Philomusica for the concert celebrating the birthday of two maestros. The conductor of OP, and maestro pianist Marios Papadopoulos was a very young 60, and world renown violinist Maxim Vengerov, who is the artist in residence with the Oxford Philomusica, was 40. It was such a delight to hear them both play. Maxim is such a wonderful performer and always puts so much energy and emotion into his playing. Last night he played the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D major and as always, it was magnificent. What can be said about Marios - he has created a world class orchestra with the Oxford Philomusica, but in his own right, is a truly brilliant pianist (as evidenced by his early accolade as Young Musician of the Year) and he played the Brahms 2nd Piano Concerto with such passion. Brilliant, and supported so well by the Orchestra and in particular by Peter Adams, the lead cello for OP (one of many fantastic musicians in the OP). A wonderful party afterwards with great friends. Pictures below of them blowing out their birthday candles and in a warm embrace. Thanks you maestros for allowing us to share your birthday.
