Had an extraordinary discussion about the Bible last night. Others might say, thats lame. Whats extraordinary with that? First I am not known for quoting the Book in my conversations. Second I am not a self-professed religious person, I practice my faith my way. Third, I was discussing with gay friends in, of all places, a videoke pub, shouting ourselves over the noise, over a bucket of red horse and san mig light. My friend then asked reluctantly: Mam, you know that I go to church and you dont. But you told me that you have a personal relationship with your God. May I ask if you have read the Bible? And I said, Yes, twice. The entire Good News Bible. First time, the purpose was to delve into chronology, genealogy, demography and geography. Second time was for structure, themes and literary inflections. When I read it the third time, it will be about the contexts of the authors and for whom they are written in the specific era. Fourth time will be content. Fifth time will be allusions relevant to our time. :) Who knows I might plan for the sixth? Depends on how the world evolves in a few years. :)
