Had an interesting thought today: would you rather be a good person who went around doing evil things, or an evil person going around doing good things? I was prompted into this idea from an Old Testament reading last Sunday regarding the snakes in the wilderness, where Moses put a bronze sculpture of a poisonous snake up on a pole, and all who looked at it, even if bitten, were saved. Well, the reference / similarity to Christ on the cross is certainly undeniable. Lately Ive had a serious change of attitude due to too much change over too short a time period. Its as if my life had been a flash bulb going off in the past, illuminating a path for my own feet to follow. Now its as if the light of the quasar has become the black hole, and all I can see is the past, whereas the present and the future (or near-future) is simply black. This is, of course, due to the embolism in my brain (lodged just over a year ago, in late August of 2013) which is literally like a magnetic STOP sign reminding me of that verse Psalm 46:10-- Be still and know that I am God. Ive always equated light with truth and love and intellect and God and all things 1, and positive. Nowadays Im contemplating 0, the absence of light, but instead of feeling like an evil villain, it seems a great deal more peaceful instead: The wisdom of man is foolishness to God (1 Cor 3:19.) So I invite yall to take a moment to entertain the idea of being an evil person doing good and see if you experience any kind of transitional moment of peace. (Scientific method: Form an hypothesis, test the hypothesis, record the results, accept or reject the hypothesis.)
