Had another productive day at work today. I did filing with Open Permits. There were a couple Zoning Permit Applications, a couple Residential Certificates of Continued Occupancy and one Zoning Permit Denial to file away. I put new tech sheets into the first Building binder, Electrical binder, two Plumbing binders and Fire binder. Paul asked me to 4 envelops for 4 addresses of people who own Swimming Pools in Closter. Paul asked me to make 4 sets of copies of the new Mailing Address sheets which include 56 pages each. Rose also asked me to make 12 sets of copies today. Paul also asked me to email over a copy of the Inspector Log for this week to someone today. I work again on Thursday this week however I am going in later at 3pm because I was invited to go out to dinner with my co-workers and few inspectors who I have not met yet. They are planning to go around 6:30 Thursday night. Hard to believe we are 9 days away from Christmas already. A little NFL news today. The season for Redskins quarterback Colt McCoy has come to an end due to injury. The following information is from an article from Yahoo Sports: His voice about to crack, Colt McCoy lamented the neck injury that has brought his season to an early end. The Washington Redskins placed McCoy on injured reserve Tuesday with a sprained neck, the latest twist in an improbable season for a journeyman who arrived as a third-stringer and eventually won the confidence of coach Jay Gruden and offensive coordinator Sean McVay. Im pretty emotional about it, because I do feel comfortable here, McCoy said. I feel that Jay and Sean and I see eye-to-eye on a whole lot of things and see the field the same way, and I felt like there were a lot of positive things ahead for me. And Im not saying there isnt still; Im just frustrated that Im not going to finish the season up with my teammates. McCoy hadnt started a game since 2011, but he leapfrogged Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins and ended up appearing in five games with four starts. He only won one of those starts - a Monday night upset of the Dallas Cowboys - but he had a respectable 96.4 passer rating despite taking 17 sacks. McCoy hurt his neck two games ago in the fourth quarter of a 24-0 loss to the St. Louis Rams, then aggravated the injury during a promising first drive in Sundays 24-13 defeat to the New York Giants. I felt like we had them right where we wanted them last week, and its just unfortunate, McCoy said. And its almost hard for me to talk about because I know what good things were coming. Griffin replaced McCoy in both games and will start Saturday against the Philadelphia Eagles. McCoy spent Monday undergoing tests at the hospital, where doctors told him it would be best not to play again this season. He said there are not any expected long-term effects from the injury, and that he should be fully healthy in a few weeks. The quarterback situation has been a mess all season for the Redskins, but McCoy made it clear he wants another chance next year. I certainly feel like Im a fit here, he said. The team replaced McCoy on the roster by promoting linebacker Jackson Jeffcoat from the practice squad. Jacksonville Jaguars have given defensive tackle Roy Miller to a 4 year contract extension. The following information is from an article from Yahoo Sports: The Jacksonville Jaguars have identified another building block in their reconstruction project. Nose tackle Roy Miller signed a four-year contract extension worth $16.2 million Tuesday, giving the Jaguars (2-12) two long-term pieces along their defensive front. Averaging 34 snaps a game this season, Miller has 30 tackles and a sack in his sixth season. The run-stuffing lineman spent four years in Tampa Bay before signing a two-year deal with Jacksonville in 2013. Miller was near tears as teammates congratulated him in the locker room. Its surreal, Miller said. Those type of things change your life, your familys life. You cant ask for anything better than that. The 27-year-old Miller has 211 tackles and four sacks in his NFL career. With Miller and fellow defensive tackle SenDerrick Marks, the Jaguars believe they have two centerpieces to build around on defense. Marks signed a four-year extension worth $22 million, including $8 million guaranteed, last December. Miller played through a nagging shoulder injury last season and eventually needed surgery. The Jaguars named him the Ed Block Courage Award winner this year. The award is presented each season to one player on every team for courage and dedication in returning from injury or illness. Its been a journey, Miller said. Ive been fighting for a long time. Fought last year and went through a lot of things. Just to go through all that and to be here today and being able to say Im going to be here for the next four years, thats an amazing feeling. As Miller was answering questions in the locker room, Marks stopped by and yelled dinners on Roy tonight. A few minutes later, Marks lauded the signing. Its big for Roy, for us and our team, Marks said. When the balls run to Roy, he cuts off the whole side by himself. For us, its huge because first and second down is so important to get us to third down. If you have guys on the field that can stop the run, it makes it better for us on third down. It shows that theyre committed. If you come in and put in the work, youll be rewarded. A lot of guys, thats what motivates them and thats the point they want to get to. The Jaguars have the NFLs youngest roster, a mixture of mostly first- and second-year players that general manager Dave Caldwell and coach Gus Bradley believe will grow together and become more competitive down the road. Miller welcomed being part of the rebuilding process. Everybody around the league, everybody on this team feels this culture, feels where this team is going, he said. I definitely do and I want to be a part of it. Im just excited that they extended that offer to me so I can stay out here. Got a lot of young players that Im excited to play with, a physical defensive line. I just couldnt be any happier. The Miller family is just so happy right now. Now some MLB news today. Miami Marlins and first baseman Michael Morse have agreed to a 2 year deal. The following information is from an article from Yahoo Sports: The Miami Marlins busy offseason has reached first base. Mike Morse has agreed to a two-year contract with the Miami Marlins pending a physical, a person familiar with the negotiations said Tuesday. The person confirmed the deal to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because it had not been finalized. The Marlins expect Morse to replace Garrett Jones as their first baseman and bat cleanup. Last season Morse hit .279 with 16 homers and 61 RBI in 131 games for the World Series champion San Francisco Giants. He batted .300 in the postseason and had four RBIs in the World Series. The Marlins have been aggressive this offseason in trying to mold a contender in the NL East. They signed slugger Giancarlo Stanton to a record $325 million contract, and traded for All-Star second baseman Dee Gordon, right-hander Mat Latos and right-hander Dan Haren, who has indicated he might retire. The move to Miami represents a homecoming for the 32-year-old Morse, who grew up in nearby Broward County. Hes a career .281 hitter with 99 homers in 10 seasons with the Mariners, Nationals, Orioles and Giants. Miami considers Morse an upgrade over Jones, who will now be on the trade market. Last season Jones hit .246 with 15 homers and 53 RBI in 146 games and led all major league first basemen with 13 errors. The Marlins opted for Morse after free agent first baseman Adam LaRoche turned down their offer and instead signed with the White Sox. Morse can also play left and right field. The right-handed hitter is projected to bat behind Gordon, Christian Yelich and Stanton. New York Yankees have made a pitching signing today bringing back pitcher Chris Capuano. The following information is from an article from Yahoo Sports: Chris Capuano is staying with the New York Yankees, just like fellow free agents Chase Headley and Chris Young. The 36-year-old left-hander agreed Tuesday to a $5 million, one-year contract and figures to join a rotation projected to included Masahiro Tanaka, CC Sabathia and Michael Pineda - all coming off injuries. We like him. We think that hes a crafty lefty that knows how to pitch, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said. Cashman tried to sign Capuano last offseason before the pitcher agreed to a $2.25 million deal with Boston that contained many bonus provisions for innings and starts. Capuano had a 4.55 ERA in 28 relief appearances for the Red Sox and was released July 1. He signed with Colorado three days later but never made it to the majors with the Rockies. New York purchased his contract July 24, and he replaced Chase Whitley in the rotation. Capuano was 2-3 with a 4.25 ERA in 12 starts for the Yankees, who set a team record by using 33 pitchers this year. He has a 76-87 record and 4.28 ERA in 10 big league seasons. Cashman said until Ivan Nova returns in May or June from elbow-ligament replacement surgery, David Phelps, Adam Warren, Bryan Mitchell, Jose De Paula, Esmil Rogers and Manny Banuelos could fill the fifth spot in the rotation. New York seems unwilling to consider Max Scherzer, who likely will be the priciest pitcher on the free-agent market. Were open to pursuing opportunities that I would call legitimate opportunities that present themselves, Cashman said. I feel better today about our overall situation than I did in October, and I feel weve really addressed a lot of areas of need. But Im still open-minded to continuing to pursue and consider any legitimate opportunities that present themselves. Young, a backup outfielder, agreed to a $2.5 million, one-year contract. Headley, who figures to start at third base, over Alex Rodriguez accepted a $52 million, four-year deal. Like Capuano, Headley and Young were acquired during last season. New Yorks most prominent addition has been left-hander Andrew Miller, who reached a $36 million, four-year agreement and will compete with Dellin Betances to replace David Robertson as the closer.
