Had any person been convicted and executed in Tamil Nadu for participation in the freedom movement by the British? Of course, I am excluding Kattabomman, Umaithurai Marudu brothers and scores of others who were executed in the early part of 19th century. The British Government took over the governance of India only from 1858. The answer, as far as I know, is none. There were two - Rajagopalan and Kasirajan - who were sentenced to death in the Lone murder case during the Quit India Movement. But their sentences were later commuted to life. Many Tamils joined the Indian National Army and fought against the British. Quite a few of them must have died in the Battle of Kohima which took place in 1944. The record says more than 30000 soldiers were killed on the Japanese side.I havent seen any list of Indians (and Tamils) who fought against the British and died in that battle.
