Had one of those BIG life events happen unexpectedly this afternoon. My baby girl literally saved my life!!! I made a foolish decision to go kayaking for the first time ever in water that was rougher that I thought and WAY colder than I thought. My daughter did wonderful. She took to it very naturally. I was struggling the whole time. My pride would not let me stop and say hey, I cannot handle this. By the time we had gotten to the middle of the lake the wind was extreme and the wind was worse. I flipped!! Immediately I had difficulty breathing even with a life jacket and my head above water. I could feel my limbs cramping up. I called out to Katie. She thought I was playing around and started laughing. :-) When she realized I was not playing she calmly steered towards me showing no signs of panic. I was thinking my time was limited in the cold water so I was panicking. She continued to remind to meditate on warmth. I finally was able to relax and starting talking about how we would be laughing about this the next day. There were people on the shore waiting to help. People helped me walk and offered blankets and jackets and showed genuine concern. LEMA just happened to be in the neighborhood and called Metro Ambulance service to check my vitals at no charge. The Red Cross provided me a warm wool blanket. A random young man offered conversation to get my mind off of my discomfort. Also while in the water the song that I have been singing constantly for a few weeks came to my mind and gave me comfort. Everyday is a day of many miracles in different forms but today it was amplified many times. I am grateful for life, for people and the God of many miracles, But today I especially grateful for the beautiful miracle of life I like to call Kaitie Lee. And yes I know the Originator of Miracles. And yes I am grateful. H. K.
