Had the opportunity to speak to GERP tonight, during the 2015 kick-off meeting. This conservative group has had many successs in the last 2 yrs and I dont see that progress slowing down in 2015! Thank you Bill, for the opportunity to speak to the those who attended. My message was simple - Public Safety: Continue to support Gardner police initiatives, enabling them to protect and serve our community. Thru safe communities comes confidence and growth. Fiscal Stability: With conservative values and a working knowledge of a profit and loss financial model, I will make informed decisions to support or question City expenditures. As a steward of the citizen’s taxes, I am keen to understand impact of taxes, infrastructure investment and outlay expenses needed to support residential and commercial growth. Future Development: Commercial growth follows residential growth. Moreover we must drive the tax burden thru ideal commercial growth, therefore lessening the Citys dependence on the residential tax dollar. I also meet several fine candidates for BOE. These folks are headed in the right direction and have a working knowledge of what our students and teachers need. Interestingly enough I found some common ground on school safety and the role our City Council plays in partnering w/ the BOE insuring that we have safe school facilities and an aware teaching staff. This collaboration is a must!
