Had the pleasure of teaching what may well have been the most - TopicsExpress

Had the pleasure of teaching what may well have been the most rewarding lesson that I have taught in years this evening. I am always encouraged to see a rider who dedicates themself to the patient, proper development of a young horse. Add to that a young horse whos talent and ego know no bounds and the process can sometimes be brutally tumultuous. To see a person who is still developing in their own right take on and cherish such a task is a shining example of horsemanship at its core. Being the person who is entrusted to guide the progression of such a pairing can be at times, a daunting task. I take that responsibility very seriously. At times, even the rider doubted the ability which I saw in both them and their horse. Thankfully, that never deterred them from striving to do everything to the best of their ability. Hard work and a commitment well beyond that of the average person has served them well. As I stood in the arena tonight and watched each step of this ride unfold, I was mesmerized. Movements which were a struggle a mere two weeks ago were performed with precision and ease. When we moved to the pattern work, I witnessed those same movements being utilized in each appropriate place in the turn. Then came time to put it all to the test and breeze through a set. To say that all of the flashes of brilliance that I had seen in both horse and rider previously all came together in that one magical moment would be a gross understatement. The run, the turns, the confidence with which it all took place was a beautiful thing. I know that that rider is reading this and saying to themselves that while it was very nice, it probably wasnt deserving of this status. I am here to tell you that it and this persons efforts to make it so, are deserving of this and so much more! As we smiled at one another, speechless, I found myself unable to say what I most needed to. Allow me this opportunity to say it now. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your journey. It means more to me than words could ever express.
