Had to go to the shops after work, pick up a few things, you know the drill. Walking around Woolworths Kawana, all I can hear are the wails of a small child. Exit aisle # 2 to find said child and Mother having a ding dong battle, Mum trying bravely to hang onto said child in her arms, while said child has a hand full of Mums face and is squeezing the living shit out of it. I quickly zoom to the Deli, pick up my ham, only to be followed by the screaming wails of said child. Ham in trolley I make a B-line for the checkout, waiting, waiting, then everyone at the checkouts hears it, the screaming is coming. 3 checkouts down, Mum is still struggling with the said child who is still screaming and thrashing about. The guy is front of me says Someones not happy No shit. Dont get me wrong, I work in child care, but when I leave the confines of my screaming environment, I dont want to hear tantrum screaming children. So I tried to block it out. Groceries paid for I was ready to make a quick exit, but I happened to turn around, to see said Mother in tears, still trying to calm said tantrum raging child down and pay for her groceries. There was another lady who had her toddler in a trolley helping pack the Mums groceries into a trolley. Well Work mode kicked in, groceries in hand I went down to the checkout, told the other lady that I would help Said Mum, and then I took her trolley and helped her to the car, while she spent the time trying to calm said child, who was still screaming, I WANT A LOLLY. Said Mum was so distressed, I dont know what to do, she has never been like this, she practically scratched my eyes out. Once at the car, said child seemed to calm down, was put into her car seat and Mum put the groceries in the car. i dont know, normally I would not give in, but next time I would prob give her the lolly. Have never seen a child attack a Mum like that before, she was out of control, and there was nothing Mum said or could do to stop it..(except giver her the lolly of course).
