Had to share friends! Recently received an email requesting help with a dog in Monterey who was found hit by a car and left not moving. Apparently this person had contacted Animal Control to pickup the dog, which they did, and took it to the Cookeville / Putnam County Animal Shelter. Knowing that the shelter is nearly always full and they are always grateful for any assistance they can get (hint hint, get out there and ADOPT!) - she contacted us asking if we could provide him with the medical attention that he needed. Within hours of receiving the email, we jumped and got the dog to one of our veterinarians for evaluation. Crushed pelvis and ribs, he needs pain meds and time to heal. We sent him to our ICU boarding facility and within 5 days, he was standing again!!! The odd part about this story is that a few years back, we got a very similar call about a dog in a very similar situation - both in Monterey, both not moving, both needing immediate medical attention. She was taken in and offered the exact same treatment. Serenity as we called her has since been adopted, and her AWESOME family throws her a birthday party EVERY year, and sends a Birthday Donation in her name on her anniversary - we said one day, we would figure out exactly what to put these funds towards... Serenity and her dads have paid it forward, allowing us to pay for the care that BeagleBoy needed to heal. Barbara Barry Brown was vital with both rescues and is overseeing his care.
