Had your glass of milk today? What an interesting morning. On Friday night, Shona Anikka Leppanen-Gibson was waiting for some long overdue payment for work performed for a state government to come into our account (but the government is so painfully slow at paying its bills it can sometimes take two months for them to pay, despite the terms being one week). Instead of a very small amount of money she found we had almost $110,000 in our account. A large Australian publicly listed company had deposited almost $110,000 into our bank account (hence we had almost $110,000 in our account that should only have had hardly anything left in it). This same company and their affiliate had previously needed our firm’s strategic services for a special task but had been too ‘poor’ to pay us, so they had asked us for a favour instead where we give the free of charge services as a favour and they covered only the basic expenses incurred - and we helped them out of goodwill – but it looks like once they got what they wanted, that was the end of that! Nice to see they can pay other companies $110,000. By the way, according to their half year report from December 2013, they are worth $650 million. Charming… Anyhow, we called one of the company’s C-suite executives on late Friday night and told him his company had accidentally paid us a large sum of money. He was shocked and said they would sort it out on Monday (today). Today the company called and apologised and said the payment was for another firm. We had to waste time going to the bank to send the money back. We should charge them for using up our time to sort out their mistake. Dodgy B@$+@rd$!
