Haider Movie Review: Performances : Taboo, Shahid and K.K Menon - TopicsExpress

Haider Movie Review: Performances : Taboo, Shahid and K.K Menon were up to the mark. I remember the eyes of taboo when she approaches young haider with a gun and expresses concern and fear all with eyes. Shahid did a spendid job with hair and when bald, He is not the choclate boy anymore and has developed a deep sense of acting for role and not for himself. Menon as usual acted well but we see him repetating his style in every movie. I feel bad for Irfan Khan as not much scope was given to him even when his entry in movie earned claps. Supporting actors played there role fare but did not leave a mark like haiders dad, teenage haider. Shraddha kapoor was lost in front of strong performances of taboo and shahid. Story : As it was adopted from hamlet of shakespeare not much was expected due to the difficulty of creating a masterpiece from a literature masterpiece still the adoption feels fresh due to strong direction of vishal. I have not read hamlet but @rohit badgujar sir read it and told me, it is better than the book. Dialogues : Story is slow paced but some dialogues said mildly leaves their impact on minds of a thinker. Cinematography : Same style of cinematography was seen in Superman - Men of Steel. I loved it because most of the shots were haldheld which gave a very realistic feel to this film. Shot compositions were cool, especially the lighting setup where colors were changed according to weather and temperature. Editing : Am confused, either the editing was slow or the story but no doubt i fell in love with proper use of transitions. But again slow doesnt mean bad, sometimes slow editing is what is needed to bring audience gradually deep inside story. Color Grading: Subhan Allah. I dont know the colorist but hatsoff to the tints, combinations, especially the foginess you used. Again the shadows were darken and there was no noise or blownout highlights. Overall i liked the saturation and hue value used throughout movie. Songs and Choreography : I will never comment whether the songs are good or bad because it depends on personal taste but the timing used in movie surely exceeded my expectations. Choreography of gul se mat mil is really awesome and shadid performed so well i wished the song was much longer. The song Aao Na deserves claps in the setting in which it was shot. Overall, I enjoyed haider and every moment i learned something new. Not recommended for people who goes for fun and masala, its not a mass entertainer but surely above 30 audience with literature and not tech savvy background will enjoy it. If you read books, love art then surely this movie is for you. It you watch movies just for a good laugh then you should try something else like Bang Bang. Thanks Vishal Bhardwaj for bringing something new this year. Please note that these are my personal opinions and reality is what we percieve. Those with my eyesight will benefit from my review but the best review you can have is of your type of people whom you relate. How much star am i going to give haider? None because I have none. Who am i to judge the capabilities of others. Am a person with empty sky, i have no right to give stars, am myself living in shadow, its better i should not talk about stars. - Faithfully Yours, Prajakt Rebeloma
