Hailstones, Thunderstorms, and Kittens. He was always offended. - TopicsExpress

Hailstones, Thunderstorms, and Kittens. He was always offended. Offended by aggressive people because they were too aggressive, and offended by passive people because they were just so void of energy. Annoyed by talkative people for not giving him a chance to say anything, and annoyed by quiet people for being too unresponsive. That was me in my early twenties. As a young man full of energy, passion, vision and determination, I wanted everything to go my way. I wanted everyone to respond to my current feelings. When I felt quiet I wanted the whole world to be quiet. When I was being talkative I wanted everyone to respond and not give me that dead stare. But then I grew up and realized that not everyone thinks, or even wants to think, like I do. We all sometimes get that itch of wanting people to respond on our terms. If we feel angry, we want everyone to respond boldly like a thunderstorm. If we feel confused, we want everyones brain to respond like scattered hailstones. If we feel kind, we want everyone to meow like a kitten. Wouldnt it make life so easy if people could just understand how we feel and respond accordingly? No, it wouldnt. Because then we would break the bond that binds us all together. Paul speaks to Christians in Romans 12:4 saying, For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. Paul is calling you and me to recognize our differences and accept them as strengths. Can you handle this? Can you handle telling people how much you appreciate them for being themselves? When we learn how to appreciate people for who they are and what they are, then, and only then, can we see the full image of God in them; the beauty and grace with which God has made them and gifted them to us as a unique member of our own body. Happy appreciating everyone for who they are. Amon
