Hamdan bin Mohammed attends the closing ceremony of WEG ( sports 29-08-14 ) Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum attended the closing ceremony of the 2014 FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG), the biggest equestrian event in the world, in Normandy, France. During the event, Sheikh Hamdan was crowned champion after finishing first with ease and winning the individual gold medal in the 2014 FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG) which drew 173 finest riders from 47 nations. The WEGs higher organising committee congratulated Sheikh Hamdan for completing the extremely gruelling 160-kilometre race in 8 hours, 8 minutes and 28 seconds. Sheikh Hamdan dominated the race from start to finish riding mare ‘Yamamah’. On this historic, sport achievement, Sheikh Hamdan dedicated the his victory to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the people of UAE, noting that the fact that the UAE has always led in international equestrian championship is source of pride to all Arabs and not to the UAE alone. Competing alongside Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed were Sheikh Rashid bin Dalmouk, Ali Khalfan Al Jahouri, Abdullah Al Marri and Saeed Mohammed AL Muhairi, who were forced to withdraw. The ceremony was also attended by Princess Haya bint Al Hussein, wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, CEO of Meydan Saeed Humaid Al Tayer, endurance race enthusiasts and fans.
