Hammond, Indiana: JOB OPENING Department: Hammond Housing Authority - Maintenance Division Job Title: Service Person I Date Requested: January 7, 2015 Date needed: ASAP Salary: $15.3965/hour full-time Job Requirements: ! High School Diploma or GED ! One year experience in electricity, carpentry, painting, heating, and plumbing ! Good communication skills ! Ability to operate simple hand operated tools and janitorial equipment ! Working knowledge of cleaning products, equipment and their uses ! Ability to lift and maneuver up to forty (40) pounds, climb ladders, stairs and work in high areas ! Capable to deliver appliances ! Ability to follow written and verbal direction from supervisors and more skilled crafts persons ! Willingness to attend formal and informal classes, workshops and/or seminars to improve job related skills and secure certification as required ! Must possess valid driver’s license to operate vehicles ! Must pass a drug test and criminal background test Job Responsibilities and Duties: ! Make minor repairs to or replace plumbing fixtures such as leaky faucets, clogged drains, etc. ! Make minor repairs to electric fixtures such as light fixtures, switches, outlets ! Make minor repairs or replaced windows screens, storm doors, etc ! Assist in rehabbing vacant units such as patching holes, painting, cleaning appliances, stripping and waxing floors, etc ! Perform grounds care such as picking up trash, cleaning gutters, trimming bushes, mowing ! Report to supervisor any maintenance deficiencies or repairs needed including housekeeping problems ! Record any and all inventory used from stock room on appropriate forms – i.e. w/o form and unit rehab form ! Assist with junk furniture pickup ! Any and all other duties and/or responsibilities determined by Executive Director This list is not all encompassing with detailed duties to fulfill the general functions of this position.
