Hamza (ra) was beloved uncle of our merciful Prophet (sws). Wahshi was an Ethopian slave. His hateful master wanted to take revenge from Prophet (sws). So he promised Wahshi freedom if he could kill Hamza. In Battle of Uhud, Wahshi ambushed Hamza and murdered him. Later Hinda, who was also enemy of Islam mutilated Hamzas body and ate his liver. When Prophet (sws) saw such a condition of his uncle, he wept bitterly and felt lot of distress. After few years, our Prophet (sws) conquered Makkah, Wahshi fled from Makkah thinking that Prophet (sws) will kill him for killing his uncle Hamza. Wahshi heard from people, that Prophet of Islam is very merciful, he forgives people no matter how great is their transgression, so he dared to come back to Makkah and asked forgiveness. Prophet (sws) forgave Wahshi but asked him not to come in front of him because his face reminds him the memory of his uncle and causes him a lot of grief. Wahshi (ra) accepted Islam and obeyed Prophet (sws) and never come in front of him while he was alive. Years later, after the death of Prophet (sws), a false prophet Musaylimah arose. Musaylimah army fought against Muslims and the same Wahshi killed the worst enemy of Islam and felt very happy. Just imagine, 1400 years back, there was no way to communicate to far away people and regions. But the news that Prophet of Islam can forgive people no matter how great is their crime was widespread everywhere. And it was this news that made Wahshi (ra) to come back and accept Islam. It was such a hard time and a very difficult situation but as the Prophet Muhammad swalallahu alaihi wasalam forgave Wahshi for what he had done then why not us! Make it you habit for that is the greatness of Islam. May Allah make us those who learn and understand as well guide and lead all of us to the #straight_path
