Hannafords is 1) too big - I felt like I was shopping in Home Depot, 2) everything at the deli was at least one dollar more per pound, in some cases two or three dollars more per pound (their brand turkey 7.99/lb...I settled for thin and trim which was on sale for 5.99/lb), bakery department, though had a wide variety, was not only more expensive, but the products are not locally made and were on average about a dollar more each...a dozen mini muffins 1.99 at MB was 3.79 at Hs, and so far the comments from people who live here are that they taste stale. Meat....oh the meat...hamburger pre made patties were almost 6.00/lb, and the patties were too thick, so a package of four patties was almost $8 !!! I didnt get any. Instead I got hamburger meat and will make my own patties, but even that was more per pound than I had ever paid at Market Basket. They did have apples on sale for .99/lb, and I did order a cake for Haidyns birthday tomorrow, and the girl was very nice...so we will see. Many of the other items I usually buy were more expensive, and I spent a little over $200 and did NOT get any chicken or meat other than hamburger (price of chicken was something like 5.99/lb or more...cant remember), did NOT get a few freezer items I usually get (the prices there were double as well) and bought NO paper products or cleaning/soap products. I buy for many people, as 7 live here on a regular basis...I not only bought less in terms of quantity, I also bought cheaper food itself...not necessarily a healthier option. I dont see myself going back there...still have to try Stop and Shop and Shaws. So far Target has been just as good in terms of price and quality, but they lack variety and stock. Overall, a very disappointing and stressful experience (not to mention the complete lack of customer service from the kids stocking the shelves and running the registers). I MISS MY MARKET BASKET!!!!!
