Happy 100th Birthday to the Worlds Greatest Swiss Grandma! That hat is perfect because we have always called her Swiss Grandma. :) Born Anna Stierli, from Canton DArgo Switzerland, she emigrated to the United States when she was 15 years old. Her parents were already here and she worked hard as a live in nanny and maid from the day she arrived. Later, my grandmother spent many years working in the embroidery industry, doing beautiful embroidery work. My sister and I spent many a New Years Eve at her apartment ringing bells and banging pots and trying on her perfume. I also used to love it when she would call me hug me and call me schatze. :) She raised the most amazing man, my Father, and through all, she sang and made music. Music has been her passion and joy throughout her life, both performing and listening to it. She had a beautiful singing voice and even owned and played the accordion! Something that was very entertaining to me as a child. :) We will be taking this lady to an Opera at the Met for her birthday present, since that will make her happier than anything.
