*** Happy 2796th Birthday Yerevan . *** **Yerevan Is 29 Years Older Than Rome No state in the world had so many capitals as Armenia. After Van, Armavir, Ervandashat, Artashat, Tigranakret, Vagarshapat, Dvin, Bagaran, Shirakavan, Kars and Ani, Yerevan became the 12th capital of th fact that Shengavit, the caves of Razdan gorge, Tsitsernakaberd, Arinberd, Karmirblur and other ancient settlements existed thousands of years ago. In 782 B.C. tsar Argishti I founded town-fortress Erebuni in the south-east part of the present Yerevan, leaving the cuneiform inscription that by Gods will Khalda Argishti, son of Menua, built thiss unassailable fortress and named it the city of Erebuni as a token of Biainilias power and to keep in awe the enemy.... In october 1968 the Armenian people, spiurk (foreign Armenian colonies) and guests from many countries celebrated the 2750th Anniversary of Yerevan. Light, covered with rosy stone, rich in architectual monuments, Yerevan is beautiful in any season of the year. Some featers of Armavir, Artashat, Dvin, Ani and other capitals are reflected in the multi-age and modern Yerevan. Thats why together with poet P. Sevak the people sang and with this song proceededto the ancient ruins of Erebuni.
