Happy 49 Years of independence, yes we have achieved a lot especially in infrastructure taking into account that the only Tarmac roads were Blantyre - Cholo, Blantyre - Zomba and Lilongwe - Salima which were all Single lane. I however believe that we should have done much more than what has been achieved and we would by now been less dependent on aid from other countries but would have rather been talking trade. The beauty with trade is that the proceeds trickle down to the people immediately and government draw from the people in form of taxes and other non tax revenues. To achieve more we need to put much emphasis on job creation inorder to avail an opportunity for our youth to participate more in our development. I will be failing if I do not pay tribute to organizations such as Airtel and TNM who have contributed a lot in job creation directly and indirectly. Both organizations are led by very youthful management please keep it up and continue being innovative you are the future of our Malawi. Let us move and emulate our colleague from the East who have achieved a lot in the period we have been independent than what we have accomplished
