Happy 70th Birthday to my DAD, I cant believe that it has been 10 years since we had your big 60th surprise birthday party. So much fun. This year, he made Bip and me promise there would be no party, just low key. So he and Barb are on their way here and I have apps and drinks ready and then we are going to Avenues Bistro for dinner. My dad is a great man and an even better father. I often am guided in life by him because I always ask, WWDD? aka What would dad do? Here are a few things I have learned: What my dad has taught me about life… ☐ It doesn’t matter how well you dance, JUST DANCE!!! (do the ‘Stanley”) ☐ Always smile ☐ There is a spreadsheet for everything, be organized ☐ It’s ok to treat yourself, you deserve it ☐ My dad taught me what it looks like to be a good friend. To have a friend, you must be a friend first. ☐ He is always there to tell me “Everything is going to be OK” ☐ But in the meantime, if you need to go and curl up in bed for one day, that is ok too ☐ Don’t sit on the pity pot too long or you will get a ring around your ass ☐ Be positive ☐ Don’t sweat the small stuff ☐ Be a hard worker ☐ Why put off tomorrow what you can do today? ☐ Putting a note in someone’s lunch with 50 cents for a coke can make someone’s day (small stuff makes a difference) ☐ It’s never too late (to save for retirement, find happiness, discover a passion, learn something new) ☐ My dad taught me by example of how to love someone unconditionally ☐ Don’t take life too seriously (is there a charge for this? Too late to change my order? Ordering a Whopper at McDonald’s) ☐ A good road trip must include an icey coke and a snickers ☐ How to cook a potato in the microwave (inside joke, actually a big fight lol) ☐ When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Make the best out of every situation, easier to live life with a smile than an attitude ☐ Your attitude has a lot to do with your aptitude ☐ Age is just a number ☐ Happy 70th Birthday DAD!!!!!
